YWCA Southern Arizona Hosts 4th Annual Illuminate South Tucson Event
[Tucson] YWCA Southern Arizona will host the 4th Annual Illuminate South Tucson event on Friday, December 7th at YWCA’s South Tucson Campus – The House of Neighborly Service, a 71-year-old campus located in the heart of South Tucson, and home to YWCA’s Microbusiness Advancement Center (MAC) and Women’s Business Center (WBC).
Festivities will commence at 5 p.m. with the traditional lighting of a 12 foot Christmas tree. This is a free event, full of music, dance, food and entertainment featuring Sahuarita’s Walden Grove High School PAC Dance Team who’s performances have gone viral and appeared on America’s Got Talent, Missionview Folklorico, and Mariachi music to fill your heart with holiday cheer.
Join over 400 community members on-campus for our annual tree lighting countdown and holiday event. Complimentary refreshments and light snacks will be provided, along with games and activities fun for the whole family. Highlights include a handmade piñata full of treats and free family photos with Santa Claus.
“This year, create beautiful holiday memories with your family with a special guest from the North Pole.”, says Mirra Mattheson, Community and Property Manager of YWCA’s House of Neighborly Service who is coordinating all the details of the tree decorations, donations, volunteers, performers, and photographers for the event this Friday.
“This is a night to kick-off the holiday season with our neighbors in South Tucson, but also to support local families with a raffle dedicated to the Healthy South Tucson Shoe and Jacket Drive.” says Matheson. This is YWCA’s fourth year participating in the drive with a goal to provide 100 kids with a new pair of shoes and warm jacket.
YWCA’s South Tucson Campus is located at 243 W. 33rd Street. The celebration will take place on Dec. 7th from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
For information on how to be involved, or how to donate time or resources, please contact Mirra Matheson at (520) 623-0100.
