“While I never thought I’d live in the U.S., I married an American for love, and here I am. When I first arrived, I felt frustrated because despite my 22 years as an accountant in Mexico, as a Spanish-speaking immigrant it was difficult for me to find professional work in the U.S. After taking Mi Carrera, slowly the frustrations went away. This was the result of my teacher and her team teaching me how to market myself as a professional, how to dress for success, and how to succeed in a job interview. This has been the most beautiful thing that has happened to me since arriving in this country. I am so happy! All I can say is THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!”— Spring 2017 YWorks Participant
YWorks targets women who are unemployed and labor displaced, especially those who face exceptional challenges to becoming employed due to domestic violence, a history of substance abuse, or legal involvement. We provide employment and entrepreneurship education, training, coaching and support using best practices, proven models, and collaboration with educational partners. Our workforce programs offer skills assessment, resume writing, interviewing, job search strategies, and skills-based drop-in sessions offered twice a month. A full calendar of sessions is available from our programming staff.
