What is LivePlan?
LivePlan is business planning software that uses a step–by–step process to guide
you through filling out each part of a business plan and prompts you with examples
and sample plans that relate to your field. LivePlan normally costs business owners
between $180 – $240/year for the software but the WBC is covering the cost of a
limited number of subscription slots for participants who complete the class. I will help facilitate you setting up
your LivePlan account if you need help, and then you will work within your account each week on completing
the written sections and financial projections.
Who should sign up?
This class is for new or current business owners who are interested in investing time into gaining a deeper
understanding of their business and thinking critically about their systems. You would be a good fit for the class
if you can answer the following questions off the top of your head (or with around 30 minutes of
brainstorming and writing):
● What types of potential customers do you intend to focus on? Which group represents your primary
market? Which others are worth pursuing?
● If your company is seeking funding, enter the amount you would like to raise and describe how you
intend to use that money to reach your goals.
● What are your major products, services, or other sources of revenue? What will you be charging for
You should not sign up if:
● You are not quite sure what you want to do yet with your business
● You have ideas about but no concrete offerings or products ready to discuss in detail
What is the weekly time commitment for this class?
The minimum time spent on LivePlan class-related curriculum and meetings would be 3-4 hours a week. This
includes 2 hours of Zoom calls and at least 1 hour of research and writing on your own. If you have been in
business for a while and have answers to many of the plan sections, your time might be slightly less, if you are
just starting your business your research and writing time may be closer to 2-3 hours a week.
-50 min: Individual Zoom Call 1-on-1 check-in
-60 min: Group Zoom Call
-60 min: Minimum time spent completing sections within your business plan on your own
What are the dates / times of the class?
The days/times of the Weekly Group Calls are TBD and will be based on the availability of the cohort (between 9am and 4pm M-F).
We have some flexibility when creating the Weekly Group Call.
In order to successfully complete the program you need to:
-Attend at least 5 of the 6 weekly 1-on-1 Zoom check-ins
-Attend at least 5 of the 6 weekly Group Zoom Calls
-Complete the entire business plan by the end of the 6 weeks
→ If you meet those requirements you will have access to your plan for the entire duration of the WBC
contract with LivePlan (minimum 1 year) to edit, update and utilize your financial projections, timeline and
notes at all times to help you track your business’s progress and metrics in real-time.
What is the cost of the class?
The WBC is offering this class free of charge!
What do I need to attend?
-Access to a computer and internet connection to access LivePlan
-A Zoom account for our individual and group weekly calls
-A solid understanding of your new or current business
Who is facilitating the Class?
My name is Marissa Johnson and I am the owner of Colima Consulting. I have a
background in science education, art, and design and am self-taught in the
language and practices of business.
My introduction to the business started when my husband, Patrick Foley, founded the
screenprinting and design shop CREAM Design & Print. I jumped on board to help
with the basic accounting, legal, event coordination, client interfacing and made
the decision to sign-on as co-owner a few months later. With no prior background
in business, I utilized all the free and low-cost business resources I could find in
Tucson to educate myself and found a real passion and alignment in the systems and structure of the business.
We spent the next 4 years growing the business, team, social media presence, and our place in the community.
In 2020 I felt called to align my interests in business, personal growth work, and graphic and website design in
service to other entrepreneurs and organizations. My belief is that when we have simple and beautiful
structures and systems in place, we have more time, energy, and creativity to devote to the important things –
community, co-workers, family, and self. I am excited to offer my design, consulting, coaching, and educational
services to organizations and small business owners through Colima Consulting. With a goal of progress – not
perfection, let’s begin!
