The YWCA Southern Arizona’s 32nd Annual Women’s Leadership Academy begins Monday, October 11th, 2021, at 6:00 PM on our online platform, Mighty Networks.

The Women’s Leadership Academy prioritizes women’s Conscious & Intentional Leadership, with a joint committee of staff and community leaders selecting workshops to highlight the theme: We Were Made for This, Facing the Future Courageously.”

The Leadership Team seeks proposals for 2.5-3-hour long deep dive skills-based workshops.

The YWCA Southern Arizona has sponsored the six-week Academy for 31 years.  Due to the pandemic and informed by the Academy of 2019, we will offer the 6-week Academy on the online platform.  The goals of the Academy are myriad.  First,  we seek to equip the next generation of leaders with the tools they need to lead courageously and inclusively.  The Academy offers the extra time that participants request during our annual Women’s Leadership Conference.  These deep-dive sessions allow guest experts to work with and help expand our network of leaders. The Academy is an excellent way to offer leadership training for a reasonable and accessible price to womxn at various stages of their personal and career goals. Finally, it provides cohorts an opportunity to build confidence to step more fully and confidently into their leadership.

During our selection process, the Leadership Team will prioritize participatory workshops that focus on supporting our participants’ voices and lived experiences. Some examples of participatory workshops are role-playing and sessions that focus on developing a practice, large and small group discussions, creative expression, and wellness opportunities.

Some of the topics requested this year include –

  • Self Care
  • networking
  • public speaking
  • working authentically with your core beliefs
  • working with a social justice lens
  • trauma-informed leadership
  • making change wherever you are
  • nervous system regulation
  • communication for leaders
  • conversations that matter
  • conflict resolution
  • cultivating cultural competence
  • arts and culture-based leadership practices
